Can you safely use a scenar device on the back and shoulders after an ACDF C5-6?

    • Yes, you can. SCENAR will speed up healing and accelerate the return of functions. We, however, would recommend to be careful using the device on the sides of the neck. This may create involuntary muscle contraction of the shoulder and neck muscles (what we usually call it the “Little Wings Technique”). While very effective for many conditions, this technique is definitely NOT recommended after ACDF surgery because muscle contractions can cause the shift of vertebrae that were carefully positioned during surgery. For the same reason do not put your device in myo-stimulation mode or use impulse modulation while working on the neck and shoulders.

      Hope this information helps.
